Ground investigation Bristol is the most fundamental part of the site investigation as a whole. Following the results of a Phase I Preliminary Risk Assessment, when a Phase II site investigation is required which en-compass’s the ground investigation. Coal mining has been an influencing part of history and industry over the last 200 years and the impact that it has left is also quite extensive. In areas of former coal mining, developments are at risk from mining of shallow coal seams were voids are left in the ground, and from former mine entries such as shafts of adits which have not been properly treated, all of which could cause settlement and or collapse of structures if not properly mitigated.
